Hi,
I have tried to send an email from the Lookup page, but that email is bouncing.
What am I missing? Whom can I contact to get my IP unlisted, given that it's now been a month since it's been wrongly put in the list?
Thanks Shanx

Shanx, What IP address do you have that is listed? Ordinarily SURBL lists domain names (DNS names) of spamvertized URLS, not IP addresses.
I checked the SURBL list and the DNS name "snipurl.com" is not listed. (Note that it -is- listed on the URIBL list).
With regards to your claim "it's been wrongly put in the list" can you tell us what you've done to discourage spammer abuse of your service?
I've gotten enough spam with snipurl's in them that I put it in my own personal blacklist (as a spamassasin low scoring rule, not an outright blocking). So I know that spammers have used your service.
Thanks for this David.
Here is what we have done.
Our system automatically checks every 10 minutes three RBLs -- SpamHaus, SpamCop, SURBL -- and deletes all snipped URLs that are found in RBLs. Automatically.
Secondly, even in cases where a URL may not have been put on an RBL yet, we allow a user submission form on *every* page of our site (it's in the running site footer) -- http://snipurl.com/site/reportspam and when a user submits an abused snipurl this way, the URL is immediately disabled. A note is sent to me, and I check how "spammy" the link was, and if it's egregious, I delete every URL from that user entirely. No questions asked.
Thirdly, people can write to "abuse@snipurl.com" (and many do). An automatic cronjob automatically checks for the URLs submitted this way and disables them as needed.
I feel this is proactive and stringent enough. Welcome any other thoughts.
Thanks Shashank SnipURL

Shashank, Glad to hear of your anti-abuse efforts. But back to my first question, what IP address of yours is being blocked? I didn't see anything obvious listed in SURBL.

We are trying to understand what your goal is. snipurl.com is not blacklisted on SURBLs, nor is the IP address it uses 75.126.161.224. This can be confirmed by using the lookup page:
Would you please explain exactly what this issue is?

It looks like the IP is on Spamhaus. You will need to contact Spamhaus about that.
http://www.spamhaus.org/sbl/sbl.lasso?query=SBL89866
Also, the IP address seems to have several URI shortening sites on it.
artmiya.net aweet.com caedge.com changcreative.com cl.lk erudition.com erudys.com fujikosuda.com joygraphy.com kobym.com man-tai.com naokisato.com orchidbae.com ouroi.com projectkobo.com sn.im snipr.com sniptools.com snipurl.com snurl.com terremotive.com yokotoda.com
Are all of the sites using SURBLs to check for abuse?
You're right. It seems the IP is not on SURBL anymore.
Thanks for spending the time to clarify. Love the SURBL service!
Cheers..

To be clear, the IP and domain have never been blacklisted on SURBLs. Please see the other note about Spamhaus.

There's a whitelisting / delisting contact point you should use
